In a historic evening at the new open-air theatre of Villa Adele ad Anzio, Carlo Verdone was the star of an event organised to give the great film director, screenwriter and actor honorary citizenship of his much loved town on the coast of Rome, the setting of his youth. The mayor of Anzio, Candido De Angelis, honoured the new citizen in an evening of entertainment – but above all charity – with proceeds from the evening going entirely towards the I Discepoli di Padre Pio association, as decided by the local administration and by Carlo Verdone himself, as a contribution to the creation of the paediatric oncology centre “Casa Accoglienza”, the first facility of the new Cittadella di Padre Pio.
Right from the beginning the great actor and devout follower of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina has been delighted to support the project and has personally been a witness to the huge message of hope which Irene Gaeta and her association is promoting.
